Metal Halide to LED Fishing Light Retrofit

FLEET RETROFIT / ENGINEERING REVIEW

Plan the lamp and driver together.

An LED fishing light retrofit starts with the existing vessel system. Abylure supports commercial fleet projects evaluating above-water metal-halide replacement with 500W–1000W LED configurations. Select the lamp, driver and mounting arrangement as one coordinated specification.

What to check before replacing metal-halide fishing lights

Vessel electrical supply

Record the voltage and frequency at the lighting circuit, the existing ballast and ignitor arrangement, circuit protection and available generator capacity. Compare these with the selected driver input range. The standard 1000W configuration is rated 330–430 VAC; it is not a default 220V replacement.

Mounting and coverage

Provide holder photographs, mounting height, spacing and orientation. The adjustable E39/E40 assembly is intended for compatible vertical holders. Thread type alone does not establish mechanical or electrical compatibility.

These are product-series planning references, not guaranteed equivalent illumination or measured fuel savings. Compare total system input, including driver and ballast losses, under the operating conditions that matter to your vessel.

A practical fleet conversion process

  1. Document the baseline. Supply the existing lamp ratings, total lamp count, circuit information and a layout drawing or photographs.
  2. Review the configuration. Confirm power class, driver matching, installation orientation and intended coverage with engineering.
  3. Validate a sample installation. Evaluate illumination, operating load, temperature, mounting security and interaction with onboard equipment before expanding the order.
  4. Approve the rollout specification. Record the accepted configuration, documentation, spares and installation instructions for the fleet.

E39/E40 LED fishing light retrofit questions

Can I retain the metal-halide ballast?

The Abylure retrofit overview calls for a matching constant-current LED driver replacing the original ballast. Follow the approved wiring instructions and use qualified vessel electrical personnel.

Does lower lamp wattage guarantee fuel savings?

No fixed fuel-saving percentage is promised. Generator operating point, simultaneous loads, number of lamps and operating hours affect the project result. Use measured electrical input and vessel operating data for an estimate.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Send the vessel supply, current lamp and ballast ratings, quantity, mounting photographs, fishing method and destination market. Include any approval or compliance requirements so the quotation can identify applicable documents.

Check E39/E40 retrofit compatibility

Before selecting a lamp or approving a fleet sample, review the E39/E40 LED fishing light compatibility checklist for holder identification, vertical mounting, clearance and matched-driver requirements.

Discuss your vessel or bulk supply requirement

Share the model, quantity, vessel supply voltage and installation details. We will review the configuration and confirm sample, documentation and quotation requirements.
